Understanding democratic mobilization in a digital world
The dynamics of political communication have changed fundamentally as a result of digitization. Digital communication channels enable political actors to address a mass audience directly or to attract the attention of journalists via direct communication channels, especially social media. In the dynamics of communication processes in social media, however, the media logic of established mass media is not simply replicated, but new criteria for the success of (digital) public communication emerge. It is the aim of the interconnected projects DigiDeMo, CamforS and DigiWorld to analyze the consequences of digitization for political communication in the context of election campaigning and protest mobilization
DigiDeMo
DigiDeMo is a Junior Research Group at the LMU Munich which is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts and coordinated by the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt)
CamforS

DigiWorld
DigiWorld is a scientific collaboration network that builts upon the work of DigiDeMo and CamforS and aims at international comparisons of election campaign strategies in digital communication channels.
